Archive Project: Warwickshire Artsweek 2008

Project Description
Warwickshire Artsweek
5th – 20th July 2008
Warwickshire Artsweek is a biennial festival of creativity showcasing the work of the county’s artists and craftspeople, both amateur and professional. Many schools have contributed to the event over the past 8 years which gave them the opportunity to show case their children’s creativity both in the brochure distributed to homes throughout the county and exhibitions in their local area.
The 2008 event is being orchestrated by the artists themselves for the first time, with a little help from Arts in Warwickshire Education and Warwickshire County Arts, who in previous years worked in partnership to support the artists and schools.
Artsweek 2008 will run from July 5 to July 20 - longer than a week, in fact. This means more time for artists and makers to show their work, and more time for the public to see it.
“The great thing about Artsweek is it gives people a chance to see arts and crafts in different places, not just in galleries or museums. All types of artists, including painters, potters and sculptors, open their studios to give the public a rare chance to see work in progress. They also exhibit in shop windows and public places to get art out onto the street, where everyone can see and enjoy it”
