Project Description

The Mini Complete Works Festival -The Royal Shakespeare Company's outdoor theatre (The Dell 2006)

In the summer of 2006 72 Warwickshire schools, involving over 2,300 children and young people, performed a 15 minute 'response' to a Shakespeare play, between them performing Shakespeare's complete works over a 7 day period. Every school was invited to send a teacher to a days training in drama with an education expert from the RSC and take their new knowledge back to their schools. After many months of preparation, with some schools bringing in professional artists to help, the scene was set for the schools 'Mini Complete Works' Shakespeare festival.

Performances of Warwickshire children and young people at The Dell Theatre were repeated in the Summer of 2007 with 18 schools involved, as the culmination of in depth project work with RSC practitioners taking the theme of slavery.
